When it comes to vision problems, there are quite a few things that could be causing it. However, at Georgia Vision Center there are some common reasons we see patients with vision problems. Luckily we offer a variety of diagnostic and treatment options which can help us devise a treatment plan for your vision impairment.
Astigmatism is a common vision problem which is caused by a defect in the eye or the eye lens which results in distorted images and blurred vision. Astigmatisms can often result in squinting, eye strain, headaches and optical fatigue.
Farsightedness (also known as hyperopia) is a visual impairment that results in vision that is good at a distance, however, is not good at a close range. Farsightedness can be caused by an eyeball that is too short or due to a cornea that doesn’t have enough curvature.
Nearsightedness (also known as myopia) is a visual impairment that results in vision that is good at close range however at a distance is not good. Nearsightedness is often caused by an eyeball that is too long from front to back.
Aging eyes (also known as presbyopia) is a vision impairment that comes with age and results in the eye losing flexibility, resulting in vision that is not good for close objects. Aging eyes cannot be prevented; however, with proper corrective lenses, vision can be restored.
